#6: Places to go...
I have to apologize as my brain is a bit fried. I basically did a writers workshop for about six hours, and it was a lot of information to process, so my mind got a lot more use than it normally does haha. It was lead by Matt Hawkins, who was an editor at Extreme Studios and now basically runs Top Cow (both of those are an imprint of Image Comics). I figured I would talk about some places I want to visit before I die. I am not a small person; I’m 6’4 around 300 pounds. I wouldn’t say I’m fat, but I’m a big guy. Flying isn’t extremely comfy for me. I haven’t flown much, but it’s not exactly a pleasant experience for me. I will however take the insanely long flight to Japan. I have always been a lifelong anime fan. Before I got into reading comics, the kind of gate way for me was anime, and then manga. I’ve always loved the culture, and I also have this goal to see a professional wrestling match in the United States, Japan, and Mexico. Kayla wants to go with me, but it might be rough for her to find food, as she is a very picky eater and doesn’t eat seafood. The United Kingdom is another place I must see. One of the first people I ever started to make comics with, Scott Twells, lives across the pond, and I want to meet him in person, and of course his awesome wife Chelsea. I’d like to visit Ireland, Australia, and Mexico as well. I’ve never been out of the country before, and I really need to. I like to think I’m “cultured,” but I think to fully engulf myself in another culture would be the best way to learn and understand it. In high school we had a foreign exchange student from Zimbabwe and another from Turkey. I thought it was great just to sit and ask them questions. I didn’t just want to know what people did, I wanted to know why they did it. Recently I started to read Trevor Noah’s book about growing up in South Africa and I’m really enjoying it. Bleh hopefully today's entry didn’t suck. I TRIED MY BEST!
Everyday I will be posting an entry in my writing challenge 100 Days which has been collected into a print collection. If you are interested in purchasing a print collection: http://www.lulu.com/shop/austin-hamblin/100-days/paperback/product-23916414.html
