Winter is here...Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones:

!!!!!Warning May Contain Spoilers!!!!!

Tonight 4/14/2019 the first episode of the final season of Game of Thrones will air! I am both filled with excitement and also sad at the same time. I am excited to see how the series ends, but at the same time it will leave a giant void in my life the size of a black hole when it sinks in I will never be able to watch a new episode again. I owe a beer to the creator and writer of the Game of Thrones novels George R.R. Martin. He showed people how cool fantasy could be. I’m serious! Now Lord of the Rings gets some credit as well, but Game of Thrones I think did it better (calm down I still love Lord of the Rings). The reason I say this is because this got a lot more people who were new to fantasy checking out the series. I think part of this goes is because the show was on HBO which has an amazing track record including True Blood, The Sopranos, and Entourage. The other reason is because 95% of the characters are normal human’s not elves, a giant eye, or orcs. Each character was humanized in a great way. The show is able to make you love a character and then hate them and vice versa. It also in the style of HBO had TONS OF SEX and every actor on the show is attractive so it also had this going for it. I just wanted to do a little bit of writing on this great show.

Here are a few skits from different Late Night Shows and youtubers I suggest:

-Jon Snow goes to Dinner Seth Meyers

-Season’s 1-7 recap with James Corden

-James Corden makes his writer marathon seasons 1-7

-Coldplay tries to make a Game of Throne musical

Favorite Characters:

The Hound: The Hound is ugly bastard who loves ale and over uses the word cunt. What’s not to love? I always enjoyed him even when he was in the King’s Guard for Joffrey. When he left during the Battle of Black Water because he had fire I was very excited to see what would be next with him and I wasn’t disappointed. His odd couple pairing with Ayra was excellent. Him listening to her list of people she wanted to kill at night (which included him) was priceless. I’m very excited to see him battle his brother The Mountain this season. I kind of hope he gets a spin off series with ghost Hodor, and Ser Davos. Hit me up HBO the ball is in your court.

The Faceless Man: I’m not sure if we will end up seeing the faceless man again, but I hope we do. When Ayra freed him I knew something was different about him and I never saw his faceless abilities coming. The main reason for The Faceless Man is to save Ayra and help make her strong, but I feel like they just scratched the surface of his religions lore and I would love for it to be explored more.

Samwell Tarly: Always a fish out of water in the Night's Watch. He wasn’t much of a fighter, but manages to kill a White Walker. I could relate a great deal with Sam and his thirst for knowledge. He didn’t have many friends, but the ones he did have he always stayed loyal to. He also got laid! He is also going to raise a foster son who has a father who is also his grandfather.. Samwell’s father always treated him like shit so I think he intends on breaking the cycle. He also fucking cured Jorah Mormont of Grayscale! I am very interested to see where he is at the end of the series (please let him live!).

The only reason I was able to get into the show was because of my best friend Kyle. The first time I tried to watch the show I was so confused. They throw a lot people at you at once and I was confused as all hell. Kyle got me a family tree with pictures so I could see who was related to each other as well as a map. I promise I’m not stupid.. I mean I’m far from a genius, but I’m not brain dead. The asshole loved my reaction to The Red Wedding..I was convinced Robb Stark would sit on the Iron Throne… One of the reasons I enjoy the series so much is literally no one is safe. Any character can die at any moment. When watching/reading Lord of the Rings you know damn well Frodo isn’t going to die. In Game of Thrones they are constantly killing off main characters and fan favorites.

Kayla and I have also started a weekly podcast. You can check it out here: https://anchor.fm/austin-allen-hamblin It's called In the Bed with Austin and Kayla because we literally record it as we lay in bed!
